Insurance and the Global Biodiversity Framework

GaiaSicura contributes to new international briefing exploring the role of insurance in delivering global biodiversity goals

As COP17 Armenia gets underway in Yerevan, the @UNEP FI Principles for Sustainable Insurance Initiative and the UNDP Insurance and Risk Finance Facility (IRFF) have released a new briefing examining how insurers can contribute to implementation of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (#KMGBF) through risk management, risk transfer and investment.

The briefing highlights opportunities to strengthen resilience through healthy ecosystems, scale insurance solutions for nature, and create the enabling conditions needed for nature-aware insurance practices.

GaiaSicura is pleased to have contributed to the briefing through our specialist position as the world's first insurance broker for nature, and bringing our expertise from having a foot in both camps to the critical analysis being undertaken. The briefing highlights the role of insurance in managing nature-related risk, strengthening resilience and unlocking finance for nature-positive outcomes
